Endless Berms and Granite Dirt
What sets Tumba Rumble apart is its sheer scale. Unlike shorter gravity runs that finish just as you find your rhythm, this trail keeps delivering corner after corner. The trail builders have taken full advantage of the local terrain, shaping massive, supportive berms that allow you to lean the bike in with complete confidence. The unique granite-blended dirt provides an incredible amount of rolling speed, making it feel like a continuous roller coaster from start to finish.
Local Support and Solo Exploration
Tackling a new network solo is always an adventure, but the local community makes you feel right at home. At the pickup point, I caught up with Peter from Ride Tumba, the local shuttle operators. In an incredible display of regional hospitality, Peter kept the uplift running when there were only two of us riding just so I could document these lines without rushing.
Because Tumba Rumble is so long, it acts as the perfect backbone for the park. It allows you to feel out the grip levels and adapt to the high-speed transitions before you move on to the more feature-heavy lines situated across the hill.
Tips for Riding Tumba Rumble
-
Manage Your Fatigue: Because of the trail’s length, your forearms and legs will feel the burn by the bottom. Pick a mid-way roller to stand up, shake out your hands, and reset. In fact, Tumba Rumble has the perfect little break point to take a breather mid way.
-
Look Ahead: The speed comes easily on this dirt. Keep your chin up and look two berms ahead to ensure you don’t overshoot the high-speed entries.
-
Work the Rollers: There are dozens of rollers built into the straights—pump them for free speed instead of pedalling to conserve your energy for the corners.
