SNEAK PEEK TRAIL PREVIEW

Sometimes a single trail doesn’t tell the whole story. The run down to Holy Cow is a chaotic, multi-trail epic at Mt Tumbarumba MTB Park that tests every aspect of your riding—from navigation and technical rock crawling to simply surviving end-of-day fatigue.

The descent begins on the smooth green flow of Tumba Rumble before peeling off onto D-Merge, a natural blue tech line. The backcountry feel of D-Merge is fantastic, but the sightlines can be tricky; it is incredibly easy to lose the main line and make a few bad navigational turns through the timber before spitting back out onto Tumba Rumble.

The main event, however, is Holy Cow. This Black Diamond technical line commands your attention immediately. The entry alone features sharp, square-edged rocks that will quickly punish a sloppy line choice (as demonstrated by a spectacular over-the-bars moment in our preview video!). Once you recover, the trail plunges into steep, demanding rock sections that require heavy modulation on the brakes and precise weight distribution.

Rider Note: If you want to bypass the easier upper green entry, there is an alternative way into Holy Cow that starts on Grin and Tonic before cutting across to join the main black tech line.

By the time you clear the heavy tech and transition into the lower jump trails, fatigue is usually sitting heavily in the legs and arms. Nosing gap jumps and fumbling through the flow on the way to the Grin and Tonic link-up is a rite of passage here. Despite the crashes, the navigational mishaps, and the burning forearms, piecing this run together is a fantastic, highly rewarding mountain bike experience.
