M16: One Huge Jump, Super Fun S-Turns, and Double Black Commitment

The M16 trail is the absolute pinnacle of high-consequence gravity riding at the Mogo Trails network. Rated Double Black Diamond, this is the destination for riders who have mastered Vertiginous and The Blindspot and are ready to tackle features of an entirely new scale. A sighting run is not just advised—it is essential to familiarise yourself with the huge features built into this descent.

Starting from the Mogo Trig Point, the trail immediately establishes its gravity-focused design. It begins with a tight, technical section of rocky terrain that requires precision and commitment. This initial phase ensures only expert riders carry the necessary speed and control into the latter half of the track, where the trail’s signature features demand total focus.

The run is best defined by a single, truly monumental feature: one huge, committing jump that requires serious speed and airtime. Clearing this successfully is an achievement in itself and marks the high point of the gravity section. This is followed immediately by a sharp transition into a tight set of S-turns. These turns are super fun, contrasting the high-stakes jump with a section of pure, rhythmic flow that allows you to pump and maintain speed down the fall-line.

This dynamic shift—from massive air to technical, high-speed S-turns—is what makes M16 so unique and such a test of bike handling. You need to quickly switch from full commitment in the air to precise placement through the corners, making it a thrilling challenge.

The 0.9 kilometre run is intense, but the high vertical drop means you finish with your heart pounding. We only managed one single high-quality laps using our trusty Merida eONE-EIGHTY e-bikes, provided by the fabulous team at Ride Mogo. This allowed us to focus all our concentration on hitting (almost) all the features exactly as intended, significantly improving our consistency on this demanding trail.

M16 is truly one of our new favourites among the double black offerings.
