Mt Tumbarumba MTB Park is quickly earning a reputation for world-class machine-built flow, and Send It Express is the perfect example of why riders are making the trek to the Snowy Valleys. As you can see in the video at the top of this post, I paired this high-energy jump line with a smooth summit warm-up to create the ultimate solo introduction to the network.
Finding Your Feet on Andersonic
Before tackling the bigger features on the hill, it pays to have a warm-up lap. Andersonic is the ideal candidate. Starting from the upper elevations, this trail offers a gentle, rhythmic introduction to the park’s terrain. It allows you to feel out the unique granite-blended dirt and wake up your reflexes without any high-consequence obstacles, delivering you perfectly to the mid-mountain junction.
Local Legends and Big Airtime
At the trail junction where Andersonic meets Send It Express, I caught up with Peter from Ride Tumba, the local shuttle operators who keep the gravity laps firing. In a testament to the incredible mountain biking community in regional NSW, Peter ran the shuttle for me despite being only one of two riders on the hill that morning.
With the uplift sorted, it was time to drop into Send It Express. This trail is an absolute paradise for riders who love to get airborne. It features highly consistent, well-profiled table-tops and rollers that allow you to build confidence with every feature. The speed is easy to manage, meaning you can focus entirely on your technique and enjoy the pure weightlessness of the park’s premier jump network.
Tips for Riding Send It Express
-
Check Your Speed: On your first lap, treat the jumps as rollers to gauge how the bike carries speed through the transitions.
-
Support the Locals: Operators like Ride Tumba are the lifeblood of regional parks. Make sure to book your shuttle passes in advance to support the trail network.
-
Relax the Arms: The shapes of the take-offs on Send It Express are incredibly smooth—let the trail do the work rather than forcing the bike into the air.
