Building Confidence on Big Dog’s Bone: Mogo’s Best Progression Line

After putting ourselves through the ringer on the neighbouring black jump trails, the Big Dog’s Bone blue line was the perfect palate cleanser and confidence builder. This trail is a shining example of expert trail design, offering an intermediate experience that feels fast and exhilarating without forcing riders into unnecessary risk.

Rated blue, it’s a brilliant way for mountain bikers to transition from pure flow to genuine gravity features. The 1.6 kilometres of single track descent is jam-packed with perfectly sculpted features. Expect to hit big swooping berms that hold your speed, low-risk tabletops that allow for easy airtime, and exciting sharkfins.

The key to this trail’s appeal is its progressive nature: all of the features are completely rollable. This means riders can start by rolling everything to familiarise themselves with the lines and then gradually work up to jumping without the fear of a forced gap. It’s truly a place where you can earn your wings. We found the continuous flow of the Big Dog’s Bone to be addictive.

Thanks to the support of Ride Mogo and the power of our Merida eONE-EIGHTY ebikes, we could easily and quickly session this trail multiple times. The e-bike assistance meant the climb back up was effortless, preserving all our energy for the crucial downhill concentration needed to hit the jumps perfectly. This ability to lap fast is invaluable when trying to perfect your technique on a new jump line.

The trail is impeccably manicured, providing a consistent and reliable surface that encourages speed. It flows beautifully through the colourful Australian bushland, offering a truly joyous riding experience. Whether you’re warming up for a black run like Skyrabbit or simply trying to get comfortable with your wheels off the ground for the first time, Big Dog’s Bone is a favourite and a must-do in the Mogo network.

We are immensely grateful to Ride Mogo for the continued loan of the ebikes, making this content possible.
