The wait is over. Today marked the official opening of Warburton Bike Park Stage 2, and I were there to catch the first shuttle uplift of the season. To celebrate, we’re dropping a sneak preview of Captain Crayfish—a trail that perfectly captures the playful, high-energy spirit of this massive expansion.
The Party Run: Playful Jumps and High-Speed Flow
Unlike the tighter, more technical benching found in parts of Stage 1, Captain Crayfish feels built for pure enjoyment. It’s a blue intermediate trail that rewards riders who like to look for side hits and creative lines. The jumps are tiered beautifully, allowing for safe progression while giving experienced riders plenty of “pop” to work with.
A New Era for Warburton Shuttles
With the shuttles now officially operational, the park has undergone a total transformation. The ability to lap these long, descending runs without the “pedal-up” tax is a total game-changer for the Yarra Valley. The dirt was in prime condition for opening day, offering that perfect mix of grip and speed that makes a “party run” with mates so much fun.
Pro-Tips for Stage 2
-
Line Choice: Captain Crayfish is wide enough to offer multiple lines through the turns. Look ahead to find the smoothest transitions between the jump sets.
-
Speed Management: While the trail is playful, it carries a lot of natural speed. Keep your eyes up and stay loose to soak up the rollers.
-
Stay Tuned: This is just the beginning. We’ll be dropping more Stage 2 previews over the coming days as we explore the full extent of the new network.
