One Last Heater: The Nail-Biting Finale at Creswick
They say you’re only as good as your last race. If that’s the case, the 2025 Rocky Trail Superflow at Creswick was a hell of a way to sign off on a massive year of riding.
2025 was a year of incredible highs, but it wasn’t without its challenges. A compressed disc in July threatened to derail my season early, but I managed to navigate that recovery and keep the momentum going. However, after my final race at Creswick MTB trails in November, new medical issues began to surface. While they didn’t stop me from lining up on the day, they would ultimately signal the start of a long, unplanned hiatus from the bike and social media in the months that followed.
With a break on the horizon, I wanted to leave everything on the dirt.
The Math vs. The Motivation
The situation was simple: I needed a 7th-place finish to secure the overall 50+ Victoria Series win. I could have cruised. I could have played it safe. But with Greg Ford sitting comfortably in first, the real battle was for the remaining podium steps.
I spent the day locked in a tactical battle, trying to bridge a 0.8-second gap to move into second place. Meanwhile, Matt Carter was hovering just 0.2 seconds behind me, waiting for the slightest mistake.

Down to the Wire
The video takes you through the highs and lows of the day—including a mechanical on Stage 3 where I lost my chain and had to re-run. By 3:00 PM, my energy was spent, and a timing malfunction meant I had to “double down” and hit my final run again.
It came down to the absolute last lap of the season. I needed 0.8 seconds. I found 2.2.
The Hiatus
Securing that second place on the day and taking home the #1 plate for the series was the perfect end to a huge year. But, I went quiet after that. Those health issues in November meant hanging up the helmet for a while to focus on recovery.
It’s been a long break, but the fire is back. Watch the full race edit to see the final moments of the 2025 season and that last-lap heater that secured second place and the title.
