Exploring a brand-new trail network is all about the “blind run”—dropping in without knowing exactly where the next technical feature leads. As seen in the video at the top of this post, we take our first-ever lap down Acka Dacka. This fresh Black Diamond addition to the Warburton Stage 2 expansion is paired with high-speed highlights from Warpij and Mad Max to showcase the full variety of the new shuttle-accessed terrain.

High Voltage Technicality

Acka Dacka (a nod to the legendary Aussie rockers) might be a shorter trail, but it packs a significant punch. As a Black Diamond run, it features technical transitions and a steeper profile than the surrounding blue flow. Being a newer build, the dirt is still very fresh, providing a tactile, raw feel that requires precise braking and a proactive body position to master.

Linking the Stage 2 Highlights

To provide a complete picture of the descent, we’ve included highlights of how Acka Dacka fits into the wider network alongside Warpij and Mad Max. This “triple threat” illustrates the progression of the park, moving from the sustained rhythm of the established trails into the fresh, technical challenges of the newest sanctioned lines.

Tips for Your First Blind Run

  • Central Weight Distribution: On technical black trails like Acka Dacka, keeping your weight centred allows you to react to unexpected drops or tight turns in the fresh dirt.

  • Proactive Vision: The key to a successful blind run is looking as far ahead as the forest allows. Anticipate the technical features rather than reacting to what is directly under your front tyre.

  • Manage the Freshness: New trails can be soft and unpredictable. Be mindful of your lean angles until you have a feel for how the berms are bedding in.
