The final round of the Victorian Gravity Enduro Series brought us to the iconic Mystic Bike Park in Bright, and the day couldn’t have turned out better. After a freezing start, the sun came out and temps stayed cool—ideal race conditions for a big day on the bike.

The day before the race, Dan and I shuttled Mystic with my son Braydon, who made his return to the bike park after a long break. It was a fun (and slightly chaotic) session that set the tone for race day.

I made a last-minute call to change my start order, choosing to race with Dan and Nick rather than in my usual category. It meant starting with a beast of a climb—1 hour and 15 minutes from the bottom to the top, racking up over 550 metres of elevation before Stage 1 had even begun.

Stage 1 was long and tough, but getting it done early was a mental boost. Throughout the day, each of the five stages brought their own mix of flow, tech, and effort—including a sneaky climb part-way through the final stage. I kept it consistent with most of my stage results between 6th and 8th place, which I was more than happy with given the high level of competition.

Along the way, I got to chat with a few younger riders who follow Sportilium, and it was especially rewarding to end the day chasing Emmett, one of those young fans, down the final trail to the finish.

There was a bit of post-race drama when my category switch raised questions with the commissaire, but it all got sorted with no issue.

The Mystic Enduro was not just a race—it was a celebration of the whole series. Great trails, great people, and a strong finish to an incredible season of enduro racing.
