After an epic day of shuttles at Mt Buller, Dan and I couldn’t resist one last run—an all-out warp-speed descent down the legendary Delatite River Trail. With thanks to Luke, who handled the drive down the mountain, we dropped into the 13km-long ride starting from the village.
The adventure began with a warm-up through Gang Gangs, leading us to the very top of Delatite. The upper section had been tidied up but still served up a fast, sketchy ride down rough and rocky fire trails. Letting off the brakes, we pushed the pace, hitting a blistering 60km/h, according to Strava!
As the terrain transitioned, the fire trail gave way to a flowing, high-speed descent, weaving through alpine forest with the stunning Victorian High Country as the backdrop. The real thrill came with the multiple log bridge crossings over the Delatite River—each one adding a dose of adrenaline as we sent every jump we could find at top speed.
With dust in the air and adrenaline pumping, we finally reached the bottom picnic ground, where Luke greeted us with cold beers—the perfect way to cap off an unforgettable ride. To top it all off, we dived into the refreshing waters of the Delatite River, making for an epic end to the day.
This is mountain biking at its finest—fast, wild, and packed with adventure. If you’re heading to Mt Buller, the Delatite River Trail is a must-ride. Watch the full video and experience the thrill for yourself!
