While the “gnar” of the Black Diamond trails gets a lot of the spotlight, the Green Circle network in Stage 2 offers some of the best views and most accessible riding in the park. As you can see in the video at the top of this post, we’re taking a warm-up lap starting from the very top with Three Owls and finishing on the flowing corners of Warburtron.
The Summit Connection: Three Owls
To get to the meat of the descent, you first have to navigate Three Owls. This trail serves as the primary connector across the summit, offering a relatively mellow grade that allows you to take in the incredible green mountain summit forest before the real descending begins.
Finding Flow on Warburtron
Warburtron itself is a masterclass in accessible trail design. It’s smooth, predictable, and wide enough to build confidence, yet it carries enough rhythm to keep more experienced riders entertained as a warm-up. This run finishes at the mid-way shuttle pick-up, though for those looking to extend their ride, it can easily be linked into Onya Lyre or Runaway Bride for a much longer descent.
Why Start with a Green Run?
-
Grip Check: Use a trail like Warburtron to feel out the day’s dirt conditions before hitting the steeper Black Diamond chutes.
-
Warm-up the Body: It’s a great way to get the blood flowing and wake up your reaction times without high-consequence features.
-
Sightseeing: The summit trails offer some of the best vantage points in the park—take a second to enjoy the view!
