Lysterfield MTB Park

Lysterfield Mountain Bike Park is one of Melbourne's most accessible and popular mountain biking destinations, located in Lysterfield Park, just 35 kilometres southeast of the city centre. This park is known for its scenic trails, catering to a variety of skill levels, from beginner-friendly routes to more challenging tracks for experienced riders. It was originally developed for the 2006 Commonwealth Games and has since grown into a favorite for both local riders and visitors.

Trail Highlights:

  • State Mountain Bike Course: A challenging black diamond trail designed for advanced riders, featuring technical sections, steep descents, and rocky terrain.
  • Hug Trail: A beginner-friendly green trail that offers a fun, flowing ride suitable for all skill levels. It’s perfect for riders looking to build their confidence.
  • Blair Witch: A blue intermediate trail that offers a mix of flowy singletrack, technical corners, and natural obstacles, providing a bit of everything for those seeking more excitement.
  • Granite Link: A more technical trail, Granite Link offers rocky sections and natural obstacles that make it a challenging option for intermediate to advanced riders.

Lysterfield MTB Park also offers a range of facilities, including a skills park, where riders can practice on features like berms, drops, and small jumps to enhance their technical skills. The park’s well-maintained network includes over 20 kilometers of dedicated mountain bike trails, providing a great mix of cross-country and trail riding experiences.

Where to park

Lysterfield Lake

Most visitors to Lysterfield Park will drive in past Montagues Orchard via Horswood Road. After you enter the park gates you'll find a large car park on the right where most mountain bikers will park. It can get pretty packed though and there is plenty more parking if you follow the road to the left and toward the dam wall. A Lysterfield Lake is a popular tourist destination so there's no shortage of BBQs, toilets and shelter.

Hallam North

A smaller yet equally popular car park can be found near the top of the park. The Hallam North car park can get pretty busy though but is a great way to access Lysterfields most popular gravity trails. Riders tend to use the toilet block to top up their water bottles mid-ride when starting from the Horswood car park.

Shuttles

No formal commercial shuttles operate at Lysterfield MTB Park and no practical option to self-shuttle.
